This sounds like a nice way to connect with the people of Israel in their crisis.

Say a Psalm, say a prayer, shoot a terrorist... The world needs all the help it can get.

The sharp escalation in rocket attacks on Israeli cities has prompted the National Council of Young Israel to urge Americans to identify with the fear of rocket attacks by signing up for an SMS program that alerts them of an incoming rocket attack on Israel. Subscribers receive a message notifying them: "A Kassam has been launched at Sderot...you have 15 seconds" to act.

While Israelis run for shelters, SMS subscribers are given a choice of options: Recite Psalms Chapter 130; give charity, call the United Nations and/or leading American politicians, or "pause for a moment and pray for the people of Sderot."

"Once again the people of southern Israel need our help and prayers," said Young Israel President Shlomo Z. Mostofsky. "Project SMS provides us with an opportunity to stand in solidarity with the families of Sderot regardless of where we might be at any given moment.

"When the alarm is sounded and the people of Sderot and Ashkelon have just seconds to run for cover, they need to know that there are tens of thousands of people around the world who are saying a prayer on their behalf in their time of crisis."

Psalm 130 (New International Version)

Psalm 130
A song of ascents.
1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;

2 O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.

3 If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?

4 But with you there is forgiveness;
therefore you are feared.

5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in his word I put my hope.

6 My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

7 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD,
for with the LORD is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.

8 He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins.

CNN once again exposes its bias against humanity by worrying about the terrorists and not the victims. When the Israelis finally take action against the terrorists daily attacks then the Liberal Media finally notice. Morons.

Read the full article with a grain of salt. When you work past the blatant bias, there is some good information in here - if you want to know how the terrorists feel about being attacked.

Israel is in "all-out war" with Hamas, the nation's defense minister said Monday as Israeli jets continued to hammer targets in Gaza and the Palestinian death toll reportedly topped 300.

"We have stretched our hand in peace many times to the Palestinian people. We have nothing against the people of Gaza," Defense Minister Ehud Barak said. "But this is an all-out war against Hamas and its branches."

Barak's remarks to parliament came as Israeli warplanes carried out a third day of strikes against the Palestinian militant group that rules Gaza.

The Palestinian death toll from the campaign has topped 300, most of them Hamas militants, Palestinian medical sources said Monday. The attacks also have wounded about 650 people, the sources said.

Columns of smoke rose over Gaza City, while Israeli tanks cruised along the edges of Gaza. Video Watch as Gaza endures third day of attacks »

Iyad Nasr, a spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross, said the streets of Gaza were largely empty while airstrikes continued Monday morning.

"Very little number of cars are going out," he said. "People who need to secure some basic food supplies are all to go out, or people looking for a family member who is missing or going to a hospital."

I love the way that the Muslim world blames the Israelis for responding to the constant attacks. Hamas has refused to try to calm things down and has been trying hard to get the Israelis to attack! Some people can see this, others are blind to any barbaric acts from barbarians.

You have to watch what is going on the entire time, not just once the response comes. Israel has ignored a lot of attacks while trying to achieve Peace! No one notices this because the Media ignore attacks by Muslims that kill Jews.

Aircraft struck one of Hamas' main security compounds in Gaza City -- a major symbol of the group's authority. Health officials said four people were killed and 25 wounded in the attack.

A column of black smoke towered from the building and some inmates of the compound's prison fled after the missiles struck. Hamas police nabbed some of them.

One prisoner trapped under the rubble waved his hand in the hope of being rescued. Two other prisoners helped a bleeding friend walk through the debris.

Minutes after the strike, Hamas police defiantly planted the movement's green flag in the rubble.

"These strikes fuel our popular support, our military power and the firmness of our positions," said Mushir al-Masri, a Hamas legislator. "We will survive, we will move forward, we will not surrender, we will not be shaken."

Senior Hamas leaders went into hiding before the offensive began, shutting off their phones. Hamas' Gaza prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, spoke on a televised address on Saturday evening but it was not immediately clear where the address was taped.

Earlier, Palestinians said Israeli bombs destroyed a mosque outside Gaza's main hospital in Gaza City; the military called it a "base for terrorist activities."

In southern Gaza, aircraft targeted a Gaza tanker truck, touching off a blaze that raged out of control and spread to about a dozen nearby houses. One of the main medicine warehouses supplying local pharmacies in southern Gaza was attacked in another sortie.

Local residents said the tanker and the warehouse contained supplies that had been smuggled in from Gaza through underground tunnels with Egypt, suggesting Israel was widening its offensive to go after businesses that are a source of income for Hamas.

Warplanes attacked the headquarters of the local Hamas television station early Sunday, but it continued to broadcast from a mobile unit.

The initial waves of attacks Saturday focused on key Hamas security installations and rocket-launching pads.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said it was unclear when the operation would end. The situation in southern Israel "is liable to last longer than we are able to foresee at this time," he told his Cabinet.

Israel's Cabinet Secretary Ovad Yehezkel quoted Olmert as telling the Cabinet the fighting in Gaza would be "long, painful and difficult." Olmert told the ministers Israel would have to withstand international pressure.

Benayahu said Israel's objective was not to halt all rocket attacks but to cripple militants' intention and motivation to assault Israel. "To change the situation, we don't have to go after the last of the rocket launchers," Benayahu told Army Radio.

The rockets that struck close to Ashdod, extending the militants' reach closer to Israel's heartland, landed some 23 miles from Gaza. Gaza's Hamas rulers have been stockpiling weapons in recent months, including medium-range missiles. Until Sunday, the deepest targets inside Israel had been the city of Ashkelon and the town of Netivot, which are about 12 miles from Gaza.

Since the campaign began, around 150 rockets and mortars have bombarded southern Israel, according to the military's count.

In Ashkelon, a city of 120,000 people about 11 miles from Gaza, bustling sidewalks immediately emptied after a rocket fell downtown. "I am afraid to walk," said Tzipi Moshe, 59, nervously puffing a cigarette as she ran into a building for cover.

The Palestine Liberation Organization, dominated by Abbas' Fatah movement, called a one-day commercial strike through the West Bank and urged Palestinians to take to the streets in peaceful protests.

Israel's military was on alert for possible disturbances in the West Bank. The campaign has inflamed public opinion across the Arab world, which has responded with protests and condemnations.

Yet Another Week of Drug Violence

Drug-related violence in Mexico this past week occurred in all the usual hotspots. For instance, the second-highest-ranking representative of the federal attorney general's office in Chihuahua state died after being shot more than 40 times while stopped at a red light in the border city of Ciudad Juarez. In Playas de Rosarito, Baja California state, a deputy police commander was gunned down while driving an official police vehicle. And in Durango state, a group of armed men shot and killed six men at a celebration near the town of San Dimas.

A noteworthy series of incidents also took place in Sinaloa state this past week. Ten people died during a firefight between two rival gangs near the town of Rosario, along the mountainous border with Durango state. Shortly afterward, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a hospital in Mazatlan, where at least one victim of the engagement was being treated. In a separate incident in the state capital of Culiacan, a series of gunbattles between two criminal groups left five people dead and six wounded over a few hours. Finally, on the outskirts of the northern town of Mocorito, soldiers discovered a remote airstrip as well as large amounts of marijuana, aviation fuel and other equipment.

While still notable, such incidents are far from unusual in Sinaloa. In fact, the state has been perhaps the most consistently violent area of the country during the past two years of the cartel war. This is due to a number of factors, including the variety of criminal groups operating there, the wide range of drug-related criminal activity, and Sinaloa's mountainous border with Chihuahua and Durango states, two other relatively lawless areas. In addition, the lack of important industrial or commercial interests in what is primarily an agricultural state has made Sinaloa a relatively low priority for Mexico City, especially as drug-related violence has grown in more populated cities along the U.S. border. Drug-trafficking activity in the state includes marijuana cultivation in the highlands, money laundering and its supporting systems and activities in the cities, maritime trafficking along the coast, and aerial trafficking from remote airstrips around the state.
Federal Reinforcements For Sinaloa

Sinaloa's criminal situation represents a unique challenge for the Mexican federal government, which this past week sent more than 1,000 military and federal police forces to the state. The reinforcements probably will assist in the ongoing security operation there. If past deployments are any guide, the incoming troops will be deployed to the joint operating bases that stretch along the north-south federal highway in cities such as Mazatlan, Navolato, Culiacan and Los Mochis. From these bases, the troops mount patrols in the remote mountains of the state, conduct public security operations in the cities, establish highway checkpoints and respond to violent incidents as they occur.

Of course, it is too early to predict how much of an impact the latest deployment will have on the security situation in Sinaloa. Previous operations of similar size in the state have made little headway over the past year, and there is little reason to believe this one will be any different. For one, the reinforcements might initially be more preoccupied with their own safety. A spokesman told news media that one of the motivations for the reinforcements involved an increase in attacks on police and soldiers in Sinaloa, including a grenade attack this past week on an army barracks in Navolato. Several days later, at least 30 armed men opened fire on a police building in Guasave. Ultimately, a spike in violence in higher-priority regions of the country could quickly lead to a drawdown of forces in Sinaloa, leaving the state back where it started.

India has been pushed to the brink of war, and Israel has been pushed past. What is the common denominator?

Terrorists who are Muslim fanatics.

The few Muslim moderates are overwhelmed by the crazies who run the religion. Mohammad taught his followers well - jihad is the only way, while supporting jihad is essential.

Israel moved closer to invading Gaza, saying Thursday it had wrapped up preparations for a broad offensive after Palestinian militants fired about 100 rockets and mortar shells across the border in two days.

Israel's foreign minister brushed off a call for restraint from Egypt's president, and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak made a direct appeal to Gaza's people to pressure their leaders to stop the barrages. But the attacks showed no signs of ending. By nightfall, three rockets and 15 mortar shells had exploded in Israel.

Israeli Pesident Ehud Olmert issued his appeal in a rare interview with the Arabic language satellite channel al-Arabiya, saying Israel would not hesitate to respond with force if the attacks continued.

When StratFor makes a prediction, then I believe it. They have made mistakes, but not as many as other groups.

Any more terrorist attacks in India will force it to either become more totalitarian or to go to war. I am sure that they will choose the later. They have in the past.

If I was a Liberal, I am sure that I would choose option C - allowing the terrorists to continue slaughtering innocents in the name of Peace.

Several major signs of a coming Indian-Pakistani war surfaced Dec. 24.

Indian troops reportedly have deployed to the Barmer district of southwest Rajasthan state along the Indian-Pakistani border. Furthermore, the state government of Rajasthan has ordered residents of its border villages to be prepared for relocation. The decision reportedly came after a meeting among the state's director-general of police, home secretary and an official from the central government. Stratfor confirmed the report with an Indian army officer.

According to India's ZeeNews, the Pakistani army replaced the Pakistan Rangers that regularly patrol the border with India. The Pakistani troop movements were later confirmed by U.K. Bansal, the additional director-general of India's Border Security Force (BSF) in Barmer, Rajasthan.

This guy is only going to serve 10 years for conspiracy to commit many murders and for providing aide to known and suspected terrorists? Interesting.

This guy should be held in isolation for a decade or two and pumped for information. His family should all be moved into an isolated community for families of terrorists and watched carefully.

Since death does not scare these fanatics, maybe castration will. That does sound like a good option. What does Islam say about this?

Rangzieb, of Barnston Avenue, Fallowfield, became the first person in Britain to be convicted of directing terrorism.

A jury at Manchester Crown Court decided the 33-year-old from Rochdale was a senior figure in al-Qaida and had plotted to build a terrorist cell here. Rangzieb had direct links with al-Qaida's third-in-command.

Taxi driver Habib Ahmed, from Cheetham Hill, was also convicted of being a member of al-Qaida and acting as Rangzieb's willing stooge. The paid had a hit-list of government ministers and aides to Tony Blair.

It included the then Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon, former MI5 chief Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, author Salman Rushdie and prominent Jewish businessman and Labour Party donor Sir Trevor Chinn. The group planned to use their British base as a springboard for attacks in the USA.

Habib prepared for terror training in Pakistan by running in Heaton Park with a heavy ruck sack on his back.

They were trapped by a massive surveillance operation involving hours of phone tapping, computer monitoring, and 24-hour surveillance. It is understood that police did not wait for the pair to get further in their planning because as 'committed terrorists intent on attacking British targets' they were considered far too dangerous.

A security source last night said: "This was a very significant trial. Greater Manchester is regarded as very important in the fight against terrorism."

Det Chief Supt Tony Porter, head of GMP's Counter Terrorism Unit, said of Rangzieb: "This man was directly associated with the core of al-Qaida. He had direct contact with bombmakers and operational players. This result means people are safer."

Facilities and Personnel Security

If conflict breaks out between India and Pakistan, corporate operations will be affected regardless of whether a particular business finds itself in the line of fire. Pakistani retaliation to an Indian strike could take the form of traditional military action, but it also could well involve asymmetric warfare. In this scenario, Pakistan would act through its militant proxies -- who could well target Westerners associated with multinational corporations in a bid to damage the Indian economy.

Previous attacks throughout India have shown that numerous militant organizations can cause serious damage and high body counts. But these attacks largely focused on Indian targets -- including crowded marketplaces, theaters and mosques -- that would cause high casualty numbers among the local population or would damage landmarks. The attacks in Mumbai widened this target set to include foreigners and Jewish interests. While the Taj and Oberoi hotels probably were attacked in part because of their status as Mumbai landmarks, the direct targeting of foreigners indicates the hotels also were chosen in a bid to strike Westerners. (It goes without saying that the attack on Nariman House was intended to target Jews and Israeli interests.)

The Mumbai attacks showed that attacking locations where Westerners are known to congregate, rather than attacks against marketplaces or cinemas that will primary kill Indian nationals, could well be a more efficient and effective way for militants to use their limited resources. And as hotels and other traditional soft targets harden their facilities and implement new security countermeasures to prevent further Mumbai-style attacks, militants will seek less-secure venues that will achieve the same result.

Such targets could include apartment complexes or neighborhoods that primarily house Westerners -- similar to the 2004 attacks on the Saudi Arabian Oil Co. residential facilities in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia -- or other soft targets such as Western-style marketplaces or restaurants. Though most multinational corporations operate in hardened facilities away from city centers, affording better access control and countersurveillance, their employees cannot remain behind walls at all times. And even within multinational corporate compounds, security cannot be fully guaranteed.

The Mumbai attack has renewed fears that insiders could be used to carry out future attacks on multinational corporate facilities. Ajmal Amir Kamil, the only Mumbai attacker taken alive, reportedly has told police that at least five people in the Mumbai area aided the attackers in their preparations for the attack. Kamil reportedly told investigators these persons provided information about various locations in the city and police stations, though they were not involved in the actual attacks. Indian media reports also note that an intern chef at the Taj may have assisted the attackers' preparations by providing access to various parts of the hotel, though the Taj has denied the man's involvement. Unconfirmed reports also hold that some of the attackers wore hotel uniforms, indicating possible staff collusion.

Given the high level of technical sophistication displayed in the way responsibility was claimed for the attack, and given that workers in the information technology industry were involved in previous attacks, the IT sector should be especially vigilant about the potential for militant attacks with inside assistance. While the investigation into how the attackers planned their mission is still ongoing, militants seeking to use the lessons from Mumbai might make renewed attempts to infiltrate multinational corporations to gain information that could be used to launch an attack.

Corporations should also take into account the possibility of Hindu-nationalist-led protests against the Mumbai attack long after the attack itself, which could disrupt business operations. Such a delay between a triggering event and the protests themselves has precedent in the February 2002 protests that occurred months after the December 2001 Kashmiri militant attacks on the Indian parliament. These protests continued sporadically through the summer of 2002, involving extensive violence and many casualties. Similarly, the militant group Indian Mujahideen (IM) said many of its recent attacks were in retaliation for the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat in which more that 1,000 (mostly Muslim) people were killed. Indian military action against Pakistan could be the trigger needed to incite widespread public protests against the Mumbai attacks.

The terrorists are killing more Gazans than Israelis, yet the Gazans are celebrating the deaths. What a waste of life. Why does God allow people to exist that celebrate death so much? Those people should be granted their wish to die.

If the Liberals were not so dead set against the death of people who want to die, the Islamic Fundamentalist might all be with Allah and their Virgins instead of down here in the world irritating those of us who just want to try and enjoy this life before we meet our Maker.

Will someone ever provide me an example of something good that comes from Gaza? Name one thing! Only missiles and bombs seem to come from there.

GAZA CITY [MENL] -- Palestinians have been injured by Hamas and Islamic
Jihad missiles fired toward Israel.
Palestinian sources said missiles fired by the Hamas regime and the
Iranian-sponsored Jihad have gone off-course and landed in communities in
the Gaza Strip. They said several Palestinian youngsters have been seriously
injured in late December.
"In the past three days, six Palestinians, including four children, were
injured as a result of the continuation of the misuse of weapons," the
Palestinian Center for Human Rights said. "The wounds of three children were
described as serious."

Suspicious White Powder Letters Received Around the United States

Since Monday, December 8, letters containing a note and suspicious white powder have been received by the offices of more than 40 governors across the country. Additional letters have been received at several U.S. Embassies overseas, said Robert E. Casey, Jr., Special Agent in Charge, Dallas FBI.

The white powder in each of these letters has been field screened and the tests have met with negative results. The powder has been forwarded to local laboratories and testing to date has been negative for biological agents. The FBI has contacted the governors' offices and the State Department to be on the lookout for additional letters.

So, the unrepentant terrorist gets released early and gets moved to a quiet location where his neighbors won't know to watch his murderous and evil soul as he plots new attacks. Sounds reasonable.

I know I would be worried about people being upset at having a murderer housed near them and their family instead of in a jail where he belongs. I think the best place to keep him is in the home of the lawyer's kids who defended him. Obviously, the defenders will enjoy housing these guys and having the State provide funds for this care while the "innocent" guys finds honest work. Like blowing up a school or church.

In Liberal lands, like Europe and most of North America, a killer like this is allowed to live with hidden among our families to protect the killer from the vengeance of those he has mocked and slaughtered. In Conservative lands, like most of the world, especially the poor areas, scum like this are allowed to live long enough to load a new clip in the rifle. The US is divided about which way to go, but the Liberal side is winning.

I think we need to find a way to keep these unrepentant criminals from ever being able to rejoin society. We can either do it with prisons or deaths. I know which seems cheaper, easier and less likely to have an escape. Is there a better way?

German terrorist leader freed after 26 years Christian Klar, who killed nine people as head of the Red Army Faction, was taken to a secret location

* Article history

A former leader of the Red Army Faction (RAF) - the far left organisation that launched terror attacks across Germany in the 1970s and 80s - has been freed from prison after 26 years.

Christian Klar, 56, was released from Bruchsal prison close to the southern city of Karlsruhe, in the early hours of today to avoid media attention.

His lawyer, Heinz-Jürgen Schneider, said Klar had been taken to a secret location. "It's now up to him to decide what he does and where," Schneider said. But he added that speculation Klar would now "do the rounds" of Germany's chatshows was "absurd".

Klar was convicted in 1985 for his involvement in nine murders in 1977, including the killings of bank head Jürgen Ponto, industrialist Hanns-Martin Schleyer and federal prosecutor Siegfried Buback. He was sentenced to six life terms to run concurrently and served longer in prison than any other RAF terrorist.

His release comes several weeks earlier than expected, in lieu of holidays accrued while he worked in the prison.

The families of Klar's victims have long called for him to show repentance for the killings, although this was not a condition of his release. They have also appealed for him to reveal details of the killings committed in the name of the RAF - also known as the Baader-Meinhof gang after its first generation of leaders - which grew out of German student protests against the Vietnam war, and only disbanded in 1998.

But Hanns-Eberhard Schleyer, whose father was shot dead by the RAF, said he did not expect Klar to show any remorse.

"The RAF terrorists were horrible criminals ... Even if they showed repentance, you wouldn't be able to accept it from people who treat others in such a brutal and contemptuous way," he said.

Following Klar's release, the only remaining RAF terrorist still behind bars is Birgit Hogefeld, 52, who has been in prison since 1993 for her involvement in the murder of a US soldier in a bomb attack on the US air base in Frankfurt in 1985. Germany's president, Horst Köhler, refused to grant her early release last year amid a huge public protest.

Klar's life after his release has been the focus of much speculation. But it is considered likely that he will take up a post as a backstage hand at the Berlin theatre's Berliner Ensemble, following an invitation by its chief director, Claus Peymann.

Last year former terrorist Brigitte Mohnhaupt, who was released after 24 years, went to work at a petrol station in Karlsruhe. Other former RAF terrorists have become teachers, writers and accountants.

When will these start to work their way into other states? All the big cities need more taxes like this! I am so glad to have moved to a quiet area where the State does not need to tax stupid things like this.

I hate the way that Liberals think the solution to a failing economy is to take money away from the workers and the business owners and give it to people who literally do nothing for the economy. Well, except sponge assets away from better roads, better emergency services, and better services for the people. Just giving fools money does not help anyone. Especially the fools.

The budget will cost the city an estimated $650 million in aid.

But it's the $4 billion in new fees and taxes that are sure to aggravate everyday New Yorkers, who would be paying more for a host of services:

*
An "iPod tax" that charges state and local sales tax for "digitally delivered entertainment services" - in other words, that new Beyonce song you download.
*
State sales tax at movie theaters, sporting events, taxis, buses, limousines and cable and satellite TV and radio.
*
Costlier driving with the repeal of the 8-cents-per-gallon sales tax cap on motor and diesel motor fuel, plus and increase in the auto rental tax.
*
Tuition increases at SUNY and CUNY, $620 and $600 a year respectively.
*
A 50 cent tax on cigars. The current tax is equal to 37% of the wholesale price, or 34 cents a cigar.
*
No more sales tax break on clothes and shoes worth $110 or less, except during two weeks a year.
*
Higher taxes on wine, beer and flavored malt beverages. He would also impose an 18% tax on non-nutritional drinks like soda.
*
The rich would pay more for luxury items through an additional 5% tax imposed on cars costing more than $60,000, aircraft costing more than $500,000, yachts costing at least $200,000 and jewelry and furs costing in excess of $20,000.
*
In addition, a host of a fees, including those related to motor vehicle licensing and registration, parks and auto insurance, would go up, as would various state-imposed fines.

Well, I tried to get this to post with my Blackberry, but it did not work.

I guess that when I am in the middle of no where and have to wait, it might be best to write it as an email and then post it when I get back to civilization and my computer.

Anyone know how to post from a blackberry?

Zaid Hamid, a former mujahid who fought the Soviets in Afghanistan during the 1980s, is the founder of the Pakistani think tank BrassTacks.

Following are some excerpts from the interview: [1]

"[If] they thrust a war on us, then the war will be fought on the other side of the border, on their side [in India], not within Pakistan Insha Allah..."

"This is not the 9/11 he [George W. Bush] was talking about [recently], but the Indians have themselves always wanted to orchestrate a 9/11, to create the same drama [9/11] in which they could include Americans and Israelis. We have no doubt this was [the result of] a joint plan by Israelis, Americans and Indians - in other words, this was a joint plan by Western Zionists and Hindu Zionists; in it Israelis are directly involved, there is involvement of Mossad.

"The details that are coming up - see, if you look at the images, the terrorist they [Indian television channels] are showing firing in the hotel with machine gun in his hand, he has tied in his hand a saffron band of Hindu Zionists; Muslims do not wear this type of band [on their wrists] - their faces are like Hindus, the language in which they are speaking, this language no Pakistani uses."

"The big part of the game has slipped out of their [Indians'] hands. We have not seen a more badly planned operation than this [the commando operation in Mumbai hotels]. The 9/11 that the Americans committed, they very beautifully camouflaged that in the media; they did a better perception management of that, and the Americans created the pretext to thrust a war on Afghanistan by fooling the entire world.

"The Indians tried to repeat the same game; but [they don't] have intellect; these idiots made a complete disaster in handling this [terrorists' occupation of the hotels]. The game was exposed in the beginning itself, so that now they have lost the moral credibility. They would have probably promised to those terrorists that we will not kill you, we will arrest you, [but] now they are killing them and apparently they are resisting them.

Five indicted Blackwater Worldwide security guards plan to surrender to the FBI Monday in Salt Lake City, about 2,000 miles from the Washington courthouse where they were charged, a person close to the case said.

Such a move would be the opening salvo in what is shaping up to be a contentious legal fight before the guards can even get to trial. By surrendering in Utah, the home state of one of the guards, the men can argue for a trial there -- a far more conservative, pro-gun venue than Washington.

The person described the decision to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the indictment against the men remains sealed.

The five guards, all military veterans, were indicted for their roles in a 2007 shooting in Baghdad that left 17 Iraqi civilians dead. The shooting strained U.S. diplomacy and fueled anti-American sentiment abroad.

Steven McCool, a lawyer for Blackwater guard and former Marine Donald Ball, confirmed Sunday that his client would surrender in Utah. Ball is from West Valley City, Utah.

"Donald Ball committed no crime," McCool said. "We are confident that any jury will see this for what it is: a politically motivated prosecution to appease the Iraqi government."

From a military stand point, this was a really great move on the part of the Taliban. The fact that there was so little security is a really stupid move on the part of the Pakistani and NATO military. Who failed?

Lets just abandon the Pakistanis for a while. Take their nukes on the way out of the country so that the fanatics can't get them, so that India and Israel don't have to nuke the country flat. Pakistan is about to fail and nothing the West can do will help, because the barbarians are insisting that it is only the West allowing the non-fanatics to stay alive. We need to allow them to stand on their own feet! If they fail, we can then kill all the survivors.

Militants blasted their way into two transport terminals in Pakistan on Sunday and torched more than 160 vehicles destined for U.S.-led troops in Afghanistan, in the biggest assault yet on a vital military supply line, officials said.

The U.S. military said its losses in the raid near the northwestern city of Peshawar would have only a "minimal" impact on its operations against resurgent Taliban-led militants in Afghanistan.

However, the attack's boldness will fuel concern that Taliban militants are tightening their hold around Peshawar and could choke the supply route through the famed Khyber Pass.

Up to 75 percent of supplies for Western forces in landlocked Afghanistan pass through Pakistan after being unloaded from ships at the Arabian sea port of Karachi. NATO is already seeking an alternative route through Central Asia.

The attack at the Portward Logistic Terminal reduced a section of the vast walled compound to a smoldering junkyard.

Just an update with new information from and about Mumbai. This just keeps getting worse and worse as more news is released or leaks.

Fresh evidence unearthed late last week by investigators in India indicated that the Mumbai attacks were directed from at least two Pakistani cities by leaders of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to the Associated Press.

Indian and American intelligence officials have already identified a Lashkar operative, who goes by the name Yusuf Muzammil, as a mastermind of the attacks. On Thursday, Indian investigators named one of the most well-known senior figures in Lashkar, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

The names of both men came from the interrogations of the one surviving attacker, Muhammad Ajmal Kasab, 21, according to police officials in Mumbai.

Karachi-Lahore-Mumbai connection
While Muzammil appears to have served as a control officer in Lahore, Pakistan, Lakhvi, his boss and the operational commander of Lashkar, worked from Karachi, a southern Pakistani port city, said investigators in Mumbai.

It now appears that both men were in contact with their charges as they sailed to Mumbai from K

arachi, and then continued guiding the attacks as they unfolded, directing the assaults and possibly providing information about the police and military response in India.

Some of the calls between the commanders and the terrorists appeared to be conversations about who would live and who would die among the gunmen's hostages, according to an official who interviewed survivors and a report by security consultants with contacts among the investigators.

An Indian terrorist was also involved in scouting targets for the plot against Mumbai, authorities said.

Torture of Victims?
Also Thursday, police said there were signs that some of the six victims of the attack on a Jewish center may have been tortured. "The victims were strangled," said Rakesh Maria, a senior Mumbai police official. "There were injuries noticed on the bodies that were not from firing."

However, members of Israeli rescue group ZAKA, which had a team in Mumbai said it was impossible to tell if the bodies had been abused, because no autopsies were conducted in accordance with Jewish tradition.

Rice: Pakistan Cooperating
"Why didn't the Indians censor the online filming of their operatives climbing on the roof of the building?"

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told reporters that "the Pakistani Government has made clear its intention to cooperate" with the response to the terror attacks, "because Pakistan also is at war with these extremists."

"That's a point that President Zardari has made many times, that extremists have wreaked havoc in Pakistan," she said, on board the jet that was taking her to Pakistan Thursday. "And so the global threat of extremism and terrorism has to be met by all states, taking a very tough and hard line," she said.

The Pakistani response to the Mumbai massacres "needs to be a robust response, and it needs to be one that is effective in both helping the international community, the United States, which lost citizens in this attack, the UK, which lost citizens in this attack and, of course, India, to respond to this situation so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice," she added.

Some Tough Questions
Almagor, an Israeli terror victims' group, praised India for reacting with military force to the terror attacks. "The Indian government understands that capitulating to terrorism only means that there will be even more victims in the long run," the group stated.

However, the group raised a series of questions regarding the Indian raids on Chabad House and other targets. Among these were:

1. Was there an intelligence command post in Israel or in the Consulate in India that collected information on Chabad House from previous visitors? Did the command post assist the Indians with vital information?
2. Why didn't the Indians use 'selective fire' as accepted in units that must operate in a terrorist attack with hostages?
3. Why was the cleansing operation carried out gradually and not by deploying numerous forces simultaneously, as is generally mandated in scenarios involving hostages, so as to save the lives of the abductees?
4. Why didn't the Indians censor the online filming of their operatives climbing on the roof of the building? The entire world had access to those films including, evidently, the planners and commanders of the terrorists who were able to communicate with the terrorists inside via phones and walkie-talkies.

"We must not agree to bury the truth together with the victims; we must not allow the whitewashing of the facts under guise of diplomatic good manners," the group stated.
"We may well be viewing the beginning of a trend of terrorist acts abroad. Thus it is vital that we draw accurate conclusions and set guidelines for cooperation with foreign governments in the war against terror," it concluded.

John Bolton Reads 'Em and Weeps

It is very hard to argue with Mr Bolton on this. Mr Obama will never do anything to worry our enemies. Which does mean that stopping the Iranians has to be done very very soon or not at all.

Please do something Mr Bush. Please.

But Bolton also said that neither the United States nor Israel will attack Iran to stop its nuclear program. "Neither one is willing to use military force," he said. Bolton said that until recently he believed that there was a small chance that Israel, on its own, might attack Iran before January 20, when Barack Obama becomes president. But Israel is mired in political confusion in advance of its coming elections, and there is no political will in Israel to go to war against Iran, he said.

Bolton also said that the likelihood of a US attack on Iran under Obama is nil. "Under an Obama administration, that possibility is essentially zero," he said. "After January 20, the chances are zero."

If strong action had been taken in the past, say, starting five years ago, Iran could have been stopped, Bolton said. Tough sanctions then would be biting now, he said. Alternately, the United States could have adopted a policy of "regime change," supporting ethnic minorities, disaffected youth, and Iran's youth, to create revolutionary unrest, even though nearly all experts on Iran have argued that regime change was never a viable option. Said Bolton: "If we had started it five years ago, we might be in a different place,. It was a good policy option. We should have pursued it. We didn't pursue it."

Covert marine operation uncovers Syria's return to plutonium production

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

December 5, 2008, 4:14 PM (GMT+02:00)
The Orontes River, Syria

The Orontes River, Syria

In the face of Damascus' refusal to allow UN inspectors access to three suspect "research laboratories, Western agents recently carried out a daring covert operation to collect water samples from the Orontes river in Syria where it drains into the Mediterranean, DEBKAfile's intelligence sources reveal. Their discoveries were presented to a closed session of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency's board on Nov. 27-28.

Situated on the river bank near Homs is one of the three research institutes where Syrian, Iranian and North Korean technicians and scientists are suspected of reprocessing plutonium for Syria's clandestine military nuclear program. The Orentes samples confirmed the suspicion that Syria has gone back to the plutonium project which was cut short when Israeli destroyed its reactor at Al Kibar in September 2007.

The Orontes rises at Tal al Musa north of Damascus and south of Homs. It flows into the sea near Antakya, which is north of Latakiya and west of Aleppo, not far from the Turkish border.

The IAEA board meeting was told in general teams how the tainted river samples were obtained. DEBKAfile's military sources add that western nuclear technicians collected them from a boat which sailed surreptitiously up to the river mouth in Syria. To make sure of their finding, they collected river water on three different dates in the last two months.

Their discovery tied in with a separate report reaching the nuclear watchdog board that Iran and North Korea were frantically drafting in nuclear specialists to help Syria revive its plutonium reprocessing project. The product is to be stored in protected hideouts.

It was the view of some board members that Tehran and Pyongyang had determined to prove that the Israeli attack had not put Syria off its nuclear program. Both were even more insistent on showing the world that the Iranian nuclear program of which the Syrian project was a part was unstoppable.

Syria and North Korea accordingly renewed their clandestine nuclear cooperation accord on Oct. 22, so making sure of an uninterrupted flow from Pyongyang of nuclear materials, technology and experts for Syria's covert nuclear facilities.

Israeli experts help India prepare commando raids into Pakistan

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

December 6, 2008, 4:23 PM (GMT+02:00)
Indian commando

Indian commando

New Delhi has asked Jerusalem to assist in the operational and intelligence planning of Indian commando cross-border strikes against Islamist terrorist havens in Pakistan - including al Qaeda, Indian counter-terror sources report.

The Indian government's decision to embark on these in-and-out incursions in reprisal for the Mumbai outrage of Nov. 26-29 was first revealed in DEBKA-Net-Weekly 375 published Dec. 4 (Indian Retaliatory Raids inside Pakistan Impending).

DEBKAfile adds: Israel is willing to help the Indians carry out punitive forays into Pakistan because it has its own scores to settle for the brutal murder of six Israelis in Mumbai's Chabad Center by the Islamist terrorists and for the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency's hand in the atrocity.

Security sources in New Delhi disclosed Saturday, Dec. 6, that ISI officers actively trained the terrorists on military lines and selected their targets, including two big hotels and the Jewish-Israeli center.

Indian sources told DEBKAfile that Israel was asked for assistance because its special undercover forces were long seasoned in plotting and executing reprisals for terrorist attacks; above all, they were expert in getting away after covert operations without leaving a trail. New Delhi wants its commando operations in Pakistan to be stealthy and focused, and does not propose to admit responsibility.

Four Pakistani locations are targeted:

1. Pakistani Kashmir where scores if not hundreds of extremist Muslim training facilities are situated - many of them ISI-run and funded;

2. Punjab in eastern Pakistan on the border of northern India. DEBKAfile's counter terror sources report that Lahore and Multan have attracted a cluster of Islamist terrorist centers.

3. Pakistan's southern coast - from Karachi north to Gwadar close to the Iranian border. Indian intelligence (RAW) has evidence that this strip was where the terrorists who besieged Mumbai ten days ago were trained for their assault.

Our New Delhi sources disclose that Indian leaders showed the outline of this plan to US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice when she visited last week. She commented guardedly that the United States was strongly opposed to a full-scale war between India and Pakistan but not averse to limited counter-terror operations.

Capture the pirates the easy way and then turn them over to the Yemenis who will probably execute them. Not a bad days work. It would be nice to have caught them in the act and executed them in full view of their friends in Somaliland, but the West is too civilized to treat barbarians like barbarians.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,462466,00.html

A Danish warship patrolling the Gulf of Aden to guard against piracy actually ended up rescuing seven suspected Somali pirates who were adrift with a broken motor on their boat, the International Herald Tribune quoted the Danish Navy Friday.

The Danish sailors sank the pirates' speedboat after bringing them aboard their own ship. The combat support vessel called the HDMS Absalon picked up the hungry, thirsty Somalis about 90 miles off the coast of Yemen after their distress signal was spotted, the Tribune reported.

The sailors confiscated rocket-propelled grenades and AK-47 assault rifles found on board but were unable to arrest the men because they were not caught in the act of piracy.

"We had a situation where these guys were shipwrecked persons," Lieutenant Commander Jesper Lynge, a Danish Navy spokesman, told the Tribune. "But we haven't caught them in an act of piracy, and what their main purpose was -- your guess is as good as mine."

I am glad that they are trying to prove this case in court, but without any material evidence, I am not sure what they are going to work with. Accidents happen, especially in wars and combat zones. I believe the shooters in this case and not the "witnesses" who have great incentive to lie.

Let these people go. Give them a fair trial and they will be free.

More than a year after the fatal shootings of 17 Iraqi civilians, five decorated military veterans who were Blackwater Worldwide security guards are headed to court in a case that strained diplomatic ties and raised the level of anti-Americanism in Baghdad.

Iraqis hope the charges, to be unsealed Monday, finally will bring justice and improve relations with the United States after the gruesome slayings on Sept. 16, 2007.

Defense lawyers say the case unfairly has tarnished the images of the Blackwater guards. Each man has received honors for his service in some of the world's most dangerous places, from Bosnia and Afghanistan to Iraq. The five were to surrender to the FBI on Monday, when the Justice Department plans to unseal the charges against them.

"These are indictments that never should have been brought," said Mark Hulkower, a lawyer for Army veteran Paul Slough of Keller, Texas.

Over here, FEMA works on natural disasters while the terrorists are considered a secondary worry. Over there, The terrorists and war are the primary concerns while the century earthquakes are something to plan for while assuming that buildings strong enough to withstand a natural disaster. The major worry is the older buildings that will collapse.

I teach disaster preparation. I wonder if the Israelis need any more trainers? I would not mind getting a tan while I teach. Honest! I work cheap, too.

This is not the mayor of New Orleans speaking before Hurricane Gustav or the governor of Texas before Ike. It is Amnon Ilani, deputy director of the Security and Emergency Department in the Jerusalem Municipality. His words are intended as a wake-up call for the citizens of Jerusalem to be prepared.

This area has been prone to major earthquakes approximately every 100 years. The last "big one" rattled the Holy City in 1927, and no one is pretending that the next one is not on the way.

In addition, we are facing critical times with respect to Israeli security. "The home front will be the main front of the [next] war, whether it is missiles from Gaza, Lebanon, Syria or Iran," deputy defense minister Matan Vilna'i told The Jerusalem Post in October.

Vilna'i takes this threat so seriously that he recently announced that he is setting up a special security school in the Tel Aviv area to train mayors and regional and local council heads how to manage in the event of a war. In accordance with a plan drawn up by the National Emergency Administration (a newly created agency set up to coordinate the various emergency services), by the end of this year every municipality and council will have to have drafted and approved an emergency plan for their community during wartime.

My Army friends can all blow me today. Sorry guys! Sort of. I know you like to blow guys, just don't talk about it. Today is the day to celebrate the Navy, not something I do often.

Army goes three and out, losers. I hope that can conduct a war with better skills than they control the battle in this arena.

Navy scores just by touching the ball. Ok, someone had to carry the ball into the end zone, but the Army just stood by and watched. 7-0 in the opening minutes!

The Navy center messed up the long snap to the punter, who chased the ball into the end zone! Good training allowed him to requickly recover and punt the ball over 50 yards out of the danger zone. Too bad he will only get official credit for 13 yards. The entire Army team went the way the ball was supposed to go before the snap was flubbed. HA! If they had been watching, they might have got the ball in perfect position for a score.

Now some playing around. Army has lame ideas for their supportive ads, but I do kind of like their new uniforms. The camo and black is a good look! I still prefer the Navy Blue and Gold.

Fumble! Army recovers it, but they are lucky to still have the ball. Sounds like a typical Army strategy. Notice that the Marines don't lose it.

End of the quarter.

AH! It was almost an Army interception! Thank the Lord for the poor players on the Army team.

Navy runs, runs, runs. Then slips in a pass and gets huge yards and scores! 17-0!!

Army gets a good run back! Too bad the guy is a tank fighting against more mobile forces.

Two minute warning... letting the Army be warned that they are getting whipped! Shun White is a wild runner, but what is with his beard? That is out of uniform!

Army fakes the kick on Fourth down and messes up! HAHAHAHA! You guys have to practice your tactics more.

That's the half. Is Army going to call the Air Force for some air strikes to stop the Navy?

The game restarted, but I was not sure I needed to gloat some more. If I was in the Army, I might ask for a transfer to a new service.

What will Navy do on 4th and 2? I say go! Army sucks anyway.
They did it! Go Navy!!

Touchdown! Again. Poor Army. 24-0. I thought the army know about land tactics? Can't prove it by their football team.

Well, the beating is finally over. First shut out in this game since Carter was President! I am not sure that any of these kids were even alive when that beatdown happened. Final score? Well, with a Navy interception with under a minute left it became 34-0.

Go Navy! Army sucks. Even the Air Force gave a better fight. What a waste of cool uniforms.

How did a piece of crud like this end up in an American cemetery? I will kick in to ship his carcass back to the land he died to enslave. Or just dump it off the coast some place.

Really, how did this body get back here?

We keep getting experts to warn that WMD attacks are imminent even though none of the warnings have come true. This is not the same as saying that the wolves are eating the sheep! Then the wolves are eating sheep that get away from the herd and are known to be trying to make killing the whole flock more efficient, then it is worrying. Unless you are convinced that these warnings are just to make the world fear Islam. We all know what freaks those idiots who think like that are.

We all know that the Jihadis want to kill all non-Muslims. They say it all the time! Even with The One now elected in the US so that everyone will love us, the terrorists are still Killing for Virgins. They know that if they kill enough people, the others will convert over to their religion. It works too! Just ask the pervert formerly known as Michael Jackson. What a great convert!

Terrorists are likely to attack the United States using nuclear or biological weapons before 2013, according to a report released by a bipartisan commission.

Vice President-elect Joe Biden was briefed on the panel's study on Tuesday. Among other things, the report suggests that the incoming Obama administration shore up its counterterrorism efforts to fight against germ warfare.

"Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing," states the report, a copy of which was obtained by FOX News. It is scheduled to be publicly released Wednesday.

The commission is also encouraging the new White House to appoint one official on the National Security Council to exclusively coordinate U.S. intelligence and foreign policy on combatting the spread of nuclear and biological weapons.

The report of the Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism, led by former Sens. Bob Graham of Florida and Jim Talent of Missouri, acknowledges that terrorist groups still lack the needed scientific and technical ability to make weapons out of pathogens or nuclear bombs.

But it warns that gap can be easily overcome, if terrorists find scientists willing to share or sell their know-how.

My missing weeks

I was on a little trip lately, a combination of business and pleasure. Those are usually the best trips. Pure pleasure tends to get distracting to me and I need something solid for my brain to work with. Not something that is easy to do in a hot tub or during a full body massage.

I was out of contact for days at a time while traveling, missed a lot of important news and have been asked to develop a current update on the Mumbai situation and its implications for one of the entities in my region. I will post that once I finish it and turn it in. It is only fair to allow the guy paying for it to have the first look.

During my trip I can honestly say that I learned a few things. Mexico is dangerous in many places, but it seems that the tourist areas are safe from the war. I need to find a way to carry a weapon if I go back in the next year or two, however, because I saw little security things that worried me. Anyone have suggestions on how to do that? The US-Mexican border is pretty tight for things like that.

I also learned that Jamaica is getting scary. The tourist areas are beautiful and fairly secure, but to get to those enclaves, one has to fight his way past some really scary crowds of people. If people is a good word for them. Within minutes of arriving, one can be offered most major types of drugs. The police patrols just make the dealers hide the bags behind their backs for a few minutes and then they return to normal. Only one of the police patrols seemed interested in stopping the drugs and I will not mention the guys name because I want him to keep up the good work without any undue interference from his more lackadaisical brethren. I am going to try to avoid any contact with Jamaica until they crack down on the drugs and crime and suggest you do the same. I heard that some cruise lines are going to avoid the island starting next year because of the crime committed against their passengers.

My rest was in Grand Cayman, which was a wonderful and relaxing place. Medical care is up to Western European standards, which are not American, but close enough to trust. If I ever get sick in the Caribbean I will find a way to get there for my care.

To sum up, avoid most of Mexico and all of Jamaica! They are not nice places anymore. The drugs and crime are getting completely out of hand. If you want to head to the islands for a vacation, there are plenty of other places to go and I can personally recommend Cayman. I will return there soon.

This is my place to vent a little and get things off my chest. I am a retired Marine who has interests in WMDs. Since WMD events are, thankfully, few in number, I spend a lot of time reading about people likely to use them. This takes me on some interesting tangents. I travel alot in my post retirement career and do not always have time to comment as I post articles. Give me a day or two to catch up if I skip comments, please.
